Minor

During the 3rd year of my studies I followed the minor Cross Cultural Business Skills. This minor focuses on developing skills and knowledge required to work in an international and multicultural environment. This minor focuses on understanding different cultures that influence business life, communication, negotiations, management and collaboration. This focuses on understanding different cultures, norms, values and behaviors in the business world, effective communication strategies and skills in intercultural situations, including non-verbal communication, language use and intercultural communication barriers, understanding how culture can influence on management styles, organizational structures and decision-making processes in an international setting, understanding different marketing approaches and negotiation techniques appropriate to various cultural contexts and awareness of social and ethical issues relevant in international business contexts and how to deal with them. The minor has prepared me to deal with cultural diversity and it helps to communicate and collaborate more effectively in international settings. In addition, we wrote a book ourselves during the minor: “Need to Lead”. This book dives deep into how cultural differences impact leadership styles and practices. This book is based on a massive global study, with findings and interviews from native specialists.

In our edition of this leadership series, we explore the unique leadership practices and styles endorsed by different countries and regions, including the Basque Country, Belize, Cameroon, China PRC, Colombia, Croatia, Fiji, Kazakhstan, Panama, Peru, Poland, Romania , Thailand, and Uzbekistan.

The process of writing my book not only helped me improve my writing skills, but it also gave me a deeper understanding of how to communicate effectively with people. An important aspect of this was learning to approach people in a way that puts them at ease while encouraging them to share their thoughts and experiences.

While interviewing different people for my book, I learned how to ask targeted questions that delve deeper into specific topics. I discovered the power of open-ended questions that allow for extensive and detailed answers, allowing me to gather quality content for my book.

Moreover, it was not only important to ask questions, but also to actively listen to the answers given. Active listening allowed me to not only hear the words, but also understand the emotions behind them. It allowed me to better respond to the stories and insights being shared, allowing me to add this valuable information into my writing.

Moreover, I learned how to convince people to participate in surveys and give them feedback. Involving people in completing surveys not only requires a clear explanation of their purpose.

In short, writing this book was a multi-faceted experience that not only refined my writing skills, but also taught me to communicate more effectively, interview people better and actively listen to what they have to say, and involve them in sharing valuable information through surveys and interviews.
