Presenting with impact

On the day following the "Writing with Impact" course, we were also given the opportunity to participate in the "Presenting with Impact" course, led by the same expert, Stephen. This full-day course, taking place from 9 to 5, provided an in-depth exploration of effective presentation skills with the goal of conveying clear messages and adding value to our presentations.

Prior to the lesson, we were required to submit three random slides from a presentation without being told what we would do with them. During the course, it turned out that we would have to present these slides, which were recorded on video. Although I initially struggled because I didn't remember the content of the slides well, the retry with three new slides provided an opportunity to try again.

A notable aspect of the course was that we had to give the same presentation five times, with feedback provided each time. This allowed us to adapt and improve. Key points of feedback included avoiding excessive screen focus, controlling speaking pace, minimizing distractions with hand movements, speaking with sufficient volume, and adding enthusiasm to engage the audience more effectively.

Repeatedly presenting the same slides provided the opportunity to focus not only on the content but also on our own posture and behavior. Interesting exercises, such as loudly stating the phrase "I speak loud, so people in the back can hear me," and consciously connecting with the audience, contributed to a more effective presentation style.

Stephen, in an enthusiastic manner, guided us through this day and provided valuable feedback. The result was not only improved presentation skills but also increased awareness of our own behavior and its impact on the audience. This will lead to greater confidence and effectiveness in future presentations.
